Jamiroquai Albums for song lyrics and biography.

Jamiroquai is a British band led by lead singer Jay Kay, short for Jason Kay, and backed by bass and guitar players, drummers, and keyboardists. Jamiroquai is the most known band of the acid-jazz movement started in London. Other important groups are Incognito, Brand New Heavies, Galliano and Corduroy. Since the mid 90s however, the group have diversified their sound extensively. "Jamiroquai" derives its name from the native American Indian tribe the 'Iroquois', on to which they've stuck JAM.

Jamiroquai's first single, "When You Gonna Learn?", was released in 1992 on the Acid Jazz label. Following its success, an eight-album record deal with Sony was undertaken, and Jamiroquai's first album, Emergency on Planet Earth, came out in 1993. The third album, Travelling Without Moving, yielded a big hit, "Virtual Insanity" in 1997 and established the group a strong hold in the difficult US market. Their hit single "Deeper Underground" was in the soundtrack of the 1998 movie Godzilla. Another single, "Canned Heat" was featured in the popular movie Napoleon Dynamite during the infamous dance scene. The acid jazz flavours of the first three albums were less evident in 1999's Synkronised. Jay Kay's interest in funk and disco music were gradually shifting the band in other directions, and with this came further commercial success. By their fifth album, A Funk Odyssey, the disco influence was especially evident. The fifth album's first single, "Little L", reached #1 in many charts worldwide.

Jamiroquai's latest album, Dynamite, was released in June 2005. It reached #2 on the UK charts, with similar successes repeated around the world. It has been regarded as Jamiroquai's most diverse work to date, with danceable disco tracks such as "Give Hate A Chance" mixed with the the more laid-back jazzy sounds of "Talullah", which harks back to the much earlier Jamiroquai sound. The first single, "Feels Just Like It Should" was released early in June, with the second single "Seven Days In Sunny June" to be released in August.
